History of the Summer Reading Room
In the Middle Ages, the space of the summer reading room served as a defensive moat when entering the city through the Michalská gate. The first mention of it comes from the middle of the 14th century. Since 1961, it has been open as a reading room of the City Library in Bratislava. Its name comes from the adjacent pharmacy U Červeného Raka, which was first mentioned in 1773 as one of five civilian pharmacies in Bratislava.
