A STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF CULTURAL FREEDOM AND INCLUSIVITY

On behalf of the Bratislava municipal cultural organisations we express our support for fellow organisations, institutions and cultural workers who have become targets for attacks, censorship and unprofessional structural and organisational interference in their governance from the Ministry of Culture, led by the Culture Secretary Martina Šimkovičová. We express deep concerns and strongly oppose the discriminating and unprofessional policies targeting selected public sector cultural institutions, their values and their leadership as well as particular sections of our society. This type of targeted discrimination, manifested in the rhetoric of the Culture Secretary and the planned legislative changes proposed by the Ministry of Culture, will dismantle the long-term efforts of the cultural workers in Slovakia towards progress, diversity and inclusivity in the Arts, Culture and Society.
